FAQ TRAIL RIDING

Q-How Long can we expect to be at the Farm

A-You can expect to be at the Farm for 2 hours 
1 hour is used to groom and Tack up the horses 
the other hour is riding time

Q- Do I have to pay for 2 hours

A- No you only pay for your hour of riding time unless you arrange to ride for a longer time

Q- Can we ride for longer than an hour
A- Yes you can ride as long as you like riding time is 50 per hour
If it is your first time riding we do not recommend you ride for longer than an hour

Q-Can I choose which Horse I ride

A- We will help you choose a horse suitable to your needs and ability but we will try to match you to a horse you will like and enjoy on your ride

 Q- Can we do more than walk

A- Yes if everyone in the group can demonstrate in the ring they are able to trot and or canter SAFELY  before going out  We maybe able to do more than walk
We always ride to the ability of our most inexperienced rider or horse rider combination

Q-What does a trail ride include

A-We are different here than many trail riding places
We pride ourselves in giving you value for your money and teaching you something while you are here

When you arrive we will get you to 
  • sign waivers,
  • get  assign your tack,
  • catch a horse with assistance
  • groom your horse with assistance
  • tack your horse with assistance
  • ride in riding ring to make sure you are comfortable can turn and stop your horse
  • go for a enjoyable ride in the open fields and woods of our farm
  • untack your horse
  • feed your horse a treat
  • put your horse back outside
Q-Is there an minimum or maximum age range

A-Yes   you must be over 10 years old to trail ride under the laws of Ontario
     and as long as you are fit you can ride till your 90 ish

Q- What if my child is under 10 can they ride with me

A- No  double riding is not allowed under the laws of Ontario

Q- is there something we can do if my child is under 10 years Old

A- Yes if your child is under 10 they can be ponied by a trail guide
We also have additional programs that will give younger children a safe modified "trail riding experience"  we can do a "Pony Party" for one child or for a birthday or other special event

Q- How far in advance must we book

A- Depending on the time of year we would prefer   a couple of days notice
However if we have space available you may be able to book for the same day.

Q-  If its hot do we have to wear Long Pants

A- It is highly recommended that you wear Long pants because the saddle could cause friction rubs on uncovered areas of skin in contact with the saddle.  1 hour of riding is enough time to cause a nasty rub on unprotected skin

Q- Can I ride in Sneakers

A-  Sneakers are not good riding foot wear please wear a boot or shoe with a small heel

Q- Helmets  Do I have to wear one

A- Yes  regardless of your age or experience We require you to wear helmet when riding.  It is the law in Ontario that ALL riders under age 16 Must wear riding helmets while mounted on a horse If you are a regular rider and have your own CEI approved Helmet then please bring it. 

Q- How many people can go on a trail ride

A-  We can accommodate up to 10 riders per ride  However smaller groups  5 and under are preferred This gives you a less stressful ride

Q- Can I come by myself and still go for a trail  ride
A- Yes  we often take out people that come alone

Q- What if it rains
A- We ride in all weather However if you wish to cancel on account of rain please discuss with us BEFORE booking your trail ride if the weather is questionable

Q-Are you accessible by Public Transit
A- Not really  there is a Go Transit Bus that gets close to the farm  but
 We can make arrangements to Pick you up and return you to the  bus stop for a small extra fee

Q- Can we go out without a guide
A- Yes  it is possible to ride without a guide  However you need to have been approved before you go out alone 

Q- What Skills do I need to have to ride without a guide
A-to ride without supervision you should be able to
  1. Recognize your horse
  2. Feel comfortable to go in with the herd to catch your horse
  3. Catch your Horse
  4. Groom and Tack your horse without help including fitting tack correctly
  5. Be over 16 or have a Adult to watch/ help you
  6.  Understand how to warm up and cool down your horse
  7. have a basic understanding of lameness
  8. Have a two way communication device with you when you ride
  9. Know the Trail so you don't get lost
  10. Have a riding buddy
Q-Can I bring a treat for my horse

A-Yes please do feel free to bring apples or carrots to treat your horse after they work  washed if possible  No need to cut them up.  Horses prefer Red apples to green or Yellow ones


Q-How can I pay

A- We accept CASH, Master Card and Visa and  PAY PAL

Can I book on line

Yes  there is a reservation form on the web site BUT Advance booking  on Line must be for ride date a minimum of 7 days away
